The Walter Alexander Collection - it is a pleasure to make this tribute to him  Walter Alexander was born in the village in 1886 to a nurseryman father who used greenhouses warmed by the steam from the boiler at the old mill bakehouse in Stoke Road, and later from steam from the British Bacon Company that took the place of the mill.  Walter Alexander was devoted to photography from a young age and has, generously supported by his daughters, given to the village many outstanding pictures of Blisworth from the early 20th century years.  Walter Alexander's memoirs of village life await transcription. However, a brief account of his photographic career is available here.

The George Freeston Collection - George Freeston was born in the village in 1910.  He collected many pictures and, especially in the latter decades of his life (1970 - 2000), he accumulated hundreds of slides of historic value related to diverse topics such as the hill railway, the bypass &c.  Since assembling the collection here, it has been useful to add pictures from many other sources, especially villagers (J Payler, T Newcombe and L Hack, to name but a few) so that, now, the collection comprises less than 50% from George Freeston.  All of George Freeston's collection are held in un-catalogued boxes at the N.R.O. and many copies are also held by the Blisworth Heritage Society.  Division of subjects is as shown below:

The Tony Hillier Collection - an interesting miscellany - in 1988, after he became a junior partner in the local GP practice, Dr. Tony Hillier put out a request for pictures from villagers to adorn the waiting room walls at the surgery in the Stoke Road.  Some of his collection is available here.

James Payler's Albums - narrow boats by 'family' - the late James Payler was born in the village in 1940 and maintained not only a keen interest in all things "canal and narrow boats" but also collected 'round and about the village' shots, many of them from the 1960s and 70s.

A Wild and Woolly Collection - Peter Griffith (Northampton Motorcyclists Club) has offered this group of pictures for the archive website.  Except for a few sessions in the late 1920s, when the tradition was established, the race has been held on Boxing Day in "Fisher Close".  By the mid 1970s it was moved elsewhere in the parish, with rather fewer mud impressions being involved.

The Cole Collection - Mr. J. O. E. Cole, MBE, was the headmaster at the Blisworth School from 1934 to 1958. His nickname was Joe Cole and he was very much liked. His family have offered a series of photographs of children and of groups (sporting teams etc) as a record. When we hear of the dating of this record and a recall of names we will add that information.

Miscellany - mostly photographs sent in to this website - in most cases these could be added to the appropriate section of the Freeston collection.  However, by not doing so this group will eventually offer 'a sample' for the browsers among you who are impatient - there are, after all, well over 2000 images on this website!
