In all probability this was a house known as The Manor It occupies a position to the north of the Church, which is conventional, but it lacks the "prospect" and location of a 'lord of the manor's house' as it is so low lying and close to the shallow end of the mill pond. It must have sometimes seemed like an open sewer. The Ordnance Survey, in about 1840, rated it as a site of antiquity and it has been so marked on their maps until recent editions. Blisworth House is a far better contender however.
