May 6th 2006 A Village Hall Gift Day held to raise funds for improvements to the Village Hall.

Jane Percival arranged this event at which a number of organisations
provided a stand in the main Village Hall room. It was impressive how well
the village responded to the exhibition and the gift day. Raised on the
day was £1526 with a £328 which came in over the few days afterwards.
With the tax refund possible with this arrangement, there should be around
£2370 available to go toward the Village Hall & Playing Fields
Association's needs. On their shopping list are play equipment for the
playing field, improved road to the scout hut, flooring improvements in the
Village Hall and some general maintenance in the Village Hall.
The village organisations, apart from the VH&PF Association themselves,
which provided a stand were the Neighbourhood Watch, the Bell Ringers Group, the
Heritage Society, the Allotments Association, the Mother's Club, Cubs &
Scouts, the Play Group, the W.I., the Football Club and the Short Mat Bowls Club
- the last two were impressive in terms of their displays of trophies and
photographs of past teams. Many people remarked on the large number of
interesting photographs on display. Refreshments were provided by Val Penn
and her team of helpers throughout the day.
