Blisworth News in Brief

On this page is presented a brief news report updated on a monthly basis.  New material is printed in red.  In some cases, more detail can be found elsewhere on this website - in which case an appropriate link will be provided.

If this monthly page is useful please let me know; not one person has indicated so.

ISSUE 15  Mar 2nd 2010                 Issue 16 will be Apr 13th.

It is thought likely that the Blisworth Parish Council will obtain there own website.  Look forward to speedily published minutes and a generally better informed village.  This page will not be needed then - good!

HOUSING

The Housing In-fill Situation There were 14 new infills in 2008 and 2 in 2009.
The record will be maintained for 2010.

Pressure to enlarge Blisworth.

27 houses in a field off Chapel Lane are certain.  The design of the access from Chapel Lane is "controversial", further committee deliberations are expected.
Many more houses are expected near Ladyfield but no news at present.

VILLAGE PLAN

Long-term Plans The "Blisworth Community Plan" - see June/July 2010.  Over 600 out of 800 questionnaires have been returned and about half of them have had data transferred to computer.
Interaction? Villagers have various ways of making their views known.  They may find a councillor willing to talk and listen, join the tiny group that usually attend at the back, at Parish Council meetings, and offer comment in the "Open Forum" or formally write to the chairman or clerk - the contact details are in the new village directory (see blisworth.org.uk)

The SNC Plan

News is definitely expected on 12th April - Cllr. S. Clarke is quite definite about that.  The type of development that will be chosen is not known.

STOKE RD.

Stability and safety in view of the density of traffic. In places the centre-line total crack width is up to 15mm - slowly widening.  Recent increase in HGVs weighing in at 44 tonnes have caused concern as they cannot pass each other at many points.  Early last month the road was accurately surveyed for subsidence, ie. a baseline has been established.  Our crude assessment of road tilt over the past 11 months, however, shows no significant change.
